[Moon-Net] Re elevation meter

Hi Cowles, i bought one of those meters and have found it does work on my 5 metre dish. settling quickly.
However it keeps loosing its calibration. Every time i turn it on its changed.
As my dish wont go down to 0 degrees i have to zero calibrate at 10 degrees and just subtract 10 from elevation readings.
Maybe there is a simple fix for this anoying bug. As my elevation reference point i use a handheld digital level to find 10 degrees.

There has been many discussions on Moonnet on elevation angle sensors.

I was thinking about getting the MACHINE DRO MODEL ME-AN-REM-PEN to give
me some elevation feedback on my small dish during overcast conditions.

Part # 5055396108576

This unit come with what looks like a 3 foot Ethernet cable, and appears
to have a RJ45 M type connector on each end.

I was wondering if it would be possible to use a 80 foot cable with this
sensor?

Has anyone used this sensor, and if so, how well does it work?

Price is low so it make me wonder.

Thank you & 73!

I tried one on recommendation. I was very disappointed at the very slow response. After any elevation change it would take upwards of thirty seconds to show a stable reading. Hopeless for tracking, but maybe OK to indicate the elevation if you don't need to move the antennas very often and the wind isn't moving things around. Fail!

Hi Cowles

I'm not sure if mine is the same model, there is no part number on it nor on
the instruction sheet.

I'm very happy with mine - I can find the moon using it with a 4ft dish on
10GHz no problem at all.

It does bounce around if the dish is not stable mechanically.

I should have added that the reading is equally unstable whether using the short Cat 5E cable or a Belkin 50m pre-made 5E cable
There appear to be two types of sensor. The one I have seems to be similar to that in the 'Lidl' digital inclinometers and has very similar 'slow to settle' characteristics.
