I have been playing with a new Triquint ULNA device (TQP3M9036). It
Shows a lot of promise. It is like a MAR or MSA device in that it is
50ohm in and out. and has a claimed NF about .4db nf ( their numbers).
I have built several pramps to test them and have gotten even better
than they claim and they cover 50-1296 with ease and NF is .4ish or
below. The S11 and S22 are both great and the OIP3 is +35db also
...very nice device. It has great promise as a good terrestrial LNA.
Preamps are foolproof to build and would cost under $50 if all the best
quality parts are used.

I’m ready on 6cm with the same dish I’m using on 3cm.
Despite the strong local 5 GHz WiFi noise, had a nice 579/569 first QSO with this setup today with HB9Q, thank you Dan !
Setup is a 3.7m dish and 60W at CP feeder.
I can be QRV on 6cm or 3cm most of the days, skeds and tests are very welcome, as usual.
qrv 70cm, 33cm, 23cm, 13cm, 9cm, 6cm and 3cm.

By the way I'll not take a part this time because of
IARU R1 UHF/SHF Contest. I'll be running
this UHF Contest with my club OK2A on 70/23/9/3cm.
This weekend I operated 6cm using just 16 Watts to a 1.9m PF dish with an
SM6FHZ septum feed (kindly loaned to me by G3LTF) On RX, a single stage
0.9dB LNA based on a "Franco" LNB board. See RSGB RadCom "GHz Bands" column
July 2014 for details.
I had 7.5dB sun noise and 0,25dB Moon noise.
On CW I worked OK1KIR, HB9Q and DF3RU. "Gotaways" on CW were OK1CA, OF2DG,
ES5PC, PY2BS all identified calling CQ. I need more power!
On JT4F I worked HB9Q, OK1KIR, OK1CA UA3PTW, OZ1LPR and PY2BS.
A good start to the 6cm project at G4BAO. Watch this space, more power
Frank NC1I, Bob KA1QFE and Bob W1QA continue with preparations for the N1H
NH 23cm EME DXpeditions. The station and antenna has been assembled and
tested and packed for the trip to New Hampshire. It is identical to that
used in our CT, RI and VT operations.
Our plan is to travel to the site on Thursday 30 Nov 2017 and spend the day
setting up and be operational on our moon rise. The location is on a clear
hilltop with unobstructed view of the horizon. Operating frequency will
1296.072 - we'll announce on-site if band conditions warrant us changing the
frequency. N1H will transmit first on JT65. We will also watch for CW
stations and gladly switch modes.
Please note that winter has begun in New England. Our operation will be
dependent on the weather; if we have any significant snow or ice we'll
postpone the operation to another month.
While all QSO's will be worked on random (no skeds) if you are located in
the Asia / Pacific region or otherwise have limited operating time / moon
window please drop Frank or Bob an email and we will do our best to be on
when you are.
We will QSL 100% direct to your qrz.com address. (If you are not on QRZ
please send us your postal info.) Reply cards can be sent to NC1I's QRZ
address or via the buro to NC1I.
Fortunately my repair job on the second EME PA module today was successful.
I have the full 500W again!
For those that suffer trouble with the otherwise much appreciated PE1RKI
amps, I have an important advice. In my case on two occasions the thin power
feed line on the PCB two either of the two FET's burned, as they are simply
too thin. If one PCB trace fails and hence the supply to the FET, there will
be misbalance in the Wilkinson combiner resulting in the eventual death of
Replace the two lines with 1mm silver wire or alike and your PA will be more
I am looking forward to 2018 with full power again and will be active
tonight after the New Year's party J
Making use of the opportunity to wish you all a very good 2018!

I have the following equipment for sale from my Dad’s (K3IB) estate.. I’d really like to see this stuff off to good use somewhere.
10GHz - I’d like to see all this stuff go together. For 900$ you can go home with every bit of 10ghz stuff I have.
144-10.368 DEMI transverter - 500$
28VDC waveguide switch with WR-90 to sma transitions and feed horn antenna - 75$
10GHz PA0PLY waveguide extremely low noise pre amplifier - 200$
Hughes 10 GHz TWT complete with power supply - 75$
WR-90 waveguide directional coupler with WR-90 transitions - 25$
Misc WR-90 flexible waveguide and solid sections with 90 degree pieces etc
1 meter dish.
Bird Wattmeter, no slugs with leather case - 225$
Multiple directional couplers with N-type connectors - 15$ ea
HP Power Meter, 432a with cable and power head and directional coupler - 40$
Rohn 25 top section and 10 foot section 25$ each
Big Uniteruptable power supply for computers 25$
Lots of Pre Amplifiers, ARR, DEMI, LNA Technologies 6M, 2M, 432, 1296 and 10 GHz. let me know what you need. 45$ each.
New replacement tube for the old HP modular spectrum analyzer. Free.
Let me know what you need and we can work something out, I have lots of parts and will throw in extra stuff if you need it. Connectors, adapters, 24 VDC power supplies, transistors, surface mount kits, ferrite kits, ETC. I’m overwhelmed with stuff here.
I can ship or meet you somewhere. Best if you swing by the house here and we can go through and set you up with extras that you need.
Thanks and call or email if you need anything or have questions..
