I’m compiling a list of tributes for UK Microwave Group’s magazine Scatterpoint and hope those who have written such great tributes to a wonderful guy (who I met at EME2012) will have no objection to my reproducing them in Scatterpoint.

I am using an IQ+ and MAP65 with a Yaesu FT-991 on 2 metres. The Yaesu is
used to generate a JT65 Signal. Unlike WSJT-X which has a lot of settings to
configure the transceiver interface there is only one setting in MAP65 to
set the number of the PTT Port. I get an error message "Unable to Open COM
Port 10" which is the number of the enhanced USB Port of the Yaesu
Transceiver.
If anyone has managed to find some workable settings for the FT-991 I would
be delighted to know them.
Thanks, Rod VK5UV
Hello all,
I have installed a FT-857D in the 144 RX line.
I see there are several filters, I would like to configure them to get the
best performance of the receiver.
The options are:
- DSP Bandpass Filter (DBF) with theLPF/ HPF cutoff settings
- DSP Noise Reductor (DNR)
- Noise Blanker in FI
- Mechanical filter 2.3KHz YF-122S
I have read something about is not usefull to use DSP Filters, but I think
the FI NB and 2.3KHz Mechanical Filters are usefull.
After all this stuff, do yo think Dump Blanker of Linrad will provide any
added performance?
What is your experience?

Thanks for letting us know, Phil. It is hard to comprehend, even after two
days of pondering.
As many have said here, few have contributed as much to the EME community
as Doug has with his EME related SW. And he did this over many (30+) years
without hesitation or any signs of getting tired, evolving it to the most
comprehensive EME support tool suite of them all.
He always responded swiftly to any suggestion or comment on this fabulous
EME related SW suit. We all owe Doug a big Thank You.
Moon rise on 23 cm EME will not be the same anymore.
Rest In Peace Doug.

Very hard to learn that.
Had many contest qsos.
Met him in Cambridge and hoped to see him in Venice...
Exchanging emails and using his software always were highlights.
