Hello EME ops....I worked 1A0C and subsequently used the OQSL "service"
that they insisted we use. I sent them the required donation from
PayPal at that time. Since it was a charity thing, I also sent them a
second donation.
I have never gotten a card from that operation. Do I have to send them
one of my cards in addition to the donation and the subscription on
their OQSL site?? I have never run into this kind of method for the QSL
card, so I am probably doing something wrong.
If anyone knows the answers, please contact me off the
reflector....Thank you...

Good Evening David,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’ve never heard of someone
‘charging’ people for confirmations through LoTW. I will bring this to
upper-management’s attention, as I do not believe this is allowed.
Again, many thanks.

*Subject:* Charging For LOTW Confirmations
Hello,
I was recently checking on some of my unconfirmed LOTW contacts. I noticed
the 1A0C Q's where not yet confirmed.
When I went to the 1A0C web page, I found this post abt using LOTW:
OQRS
The faster and preferred way to obtain a QSL card is via *OQRS* (Online QSL
Request System) through the on-line log.
The contribution for a QSL request via *OQRS* is:
- *4 EUR*, including direct QSL and LOTW credit.
- *1 EUR *for the LOTW credit only.
They are charging for LOTW confirmations. I was led to believe this is not
"kosher" with the spirit of the LOTW program.
Would you give me some clarification on this? If it catches on, the LOTW
program will eventually loose its usefulness as a way to avoid high postage
costs, and eventually die on the vine due to lack of use, and the revenue
for the League will dry up.

Hi Dave
As long as the organizers will provide a confirmation via some method that
is reasonable, ARRL stays out of it.
One euro for LoTW isn't unreasonable although I would prefer that 1 Euro
also generates a Bureau QSL to go along with LoTW.
I looked at their website just now and you can also request a Bureau QSL
for free via the OQRS system:
70128 – BARI (ITALY)
Bureau
*It is not necessary for us to receive you card via the bureau!* You may
request a QSL via the bureau. However, such QSL requests must be initiated
*only* via the OQRS system. We will ship the card directly to the IARU
Bureaus.
All on-line bureau requests will be processed within 12 months of
submission. Please do not send any QSLs to the bureau, The QSL manager does
not need or require your card.
LOTW
At the time 1A0C’s has no agreement with any sponsor about when the upload
of the entire log will be performed on LOTW. So if you need the LOTW
confirmation, please consider OQRS or a direct request.
--
It looks like they will eventually install the entire log into LoTW.

Marshall,
We sent a nice donation and have since inquired twice to the 1A0 manager on
QRZ.com. A month after my second inquiry, I got the following reply:
Please don’t worry about the status of 1A0C QSL.
All QSL requests via oqrs are being shipped in the coming weeks and are
under management in this moment. It’s an hard work and not mine prior work,
just an hobby.
So in the coming weeks all oqrs QSL will be shipped, then I will ship direct
QSL requested.
If you don’t receive the QSL in following 2 months write me again.
Please don’t write me others similar mails, are only loss of time. Please
follow @1a0c on twitter for update: https://twitter.com/1a0c
73.
Francesco IZ7KHR – Manager 1A0C.
IT IS ONLY A HOBBY>>> NTO A PRIORITY... What a terrible attitude for a QSL
manager to have !.
I then sent 1 euro to the Paypal OQRS system and got a confirmation on LTOW
within 2 days... BUT STILL NO QSL CARD in the mail !
Good luck getting a QSL card.

BTW: ZF2EM entire log is on LOTW already ;-)

Marshall good evening send a card to DL8YHR Frank & you will get a qsl. I
got one from Frank & one from Italy after I sent them half of Fort Knox.
Without doubt the most expensive QSL ever. I will not do that again.

Hi all,
I installed WSJT 9.0 to get JT4F mode running with my 10GHz system,
but need a PTT delay of appr. 3sec before audio starts up
because my TWTA have a 3sec.RF-out delay after PTT is set.
I could not find a parameter to set a PTT delay, so any help is very appreciated.

Worked three more stations on 1296-eme:
PA2DW -20
KD3UY -27
LU8ENU -22
Gave a new initial and WAS to both Dick and Bob. I had worked Juan
last August. This brings me to 22 initials on 1296.
http://www.kl7uw.com/23CM-EMELOG.pdf
I tried with W8MEM and could not see a trace on JT65c. This is
strange as Mark runs a 16-foot dish same as I do but with 30w vs 125w
at the dish. Mark is running linear pol which apparently cuts his
signal too much for me to see. He was copying me at
-20. 10Log(30/125) = 6 dB and cross-pol adds another 3-dB penalty
implying I should see him at -29 dB.
I definitely see a trace on -29 signals (though marginal for
decoding) so not sure why I am not seeing any trace from Mark. We
both agree more RF power would help.
Mark sent me photos of his feed and it looks to me like a circ-pol
VE4MA style feed (has two coax probes at 90-degrees with tuning
screws at 45-degrees and 135-degrees). This looks identical to the
3400 feed I have. Mark has a hybrid for his feedhorn. I'm
questioning if that is required?
I am pleased so far with my 1296 contacts. System appears to
work. Should be even better once I add the second W6PQL amp to get
close to 300w. Hope to have that ready by end of summer (3400 and
50-MHz eme come first).
-----------
PS: apparently big opening on 50-MHz this afternoon (AK, JA, PY1,
lower-48, even EU?). I copied a couple AK stations north of me
calling on CW but heard no DX with my 6-element yagi.

That is very sad news.
As well as his pioneering work on EME, mostly as WA6MGZ, he was a
driving force in the AZ microwave community. He was always a reliable
signal on 10Gigs, and inspired many of us to improve our portable rigs.
He also did a lot to encourage V/UHF activity in the area.
He will be much missed.
