Yesterday I wrote:
"I was going to use a KX3 with PX3 for this, but have found to my dismay that the level of RF noise from the PX3 makes it useless for weak signal VHF work. "
Today after fiddling around with leads, taking the PX3 case apart and pressing here and there, suddenly I appear to have cured the annoying noise that was masking weak signals from my transverter. I will keep an eye on it, and try and tidy up so that I can get everything in a position where cables etc are in good positions to minimise pickup etc.
Anyway, for now I am much happier that I dont have to go out and find a replacement for the KX3 PX3 combo. I very nearly bought a TS590SG today, fortunately the local emporium did not have one in stock. I had a look at the older TS590S and it did look like a nice radio, the sort of physical size I consider ergonomic with plenty of physical buttons, but not too many. If I was in the market for a solid 100 watt HF radio then it would be top of the list here. The Elecraft K3S also very very nice, but too expensive for my specific needs.
Thank you to everyone who answered my questions about the FDM-DUO and the 590SG and also who did checks on their own KX3 PX3 rigs.
Looking forward to setting up the KX3 with transverter for transmit soon and perhaps working some of you on tropo or meteor scatter. EME a little later once I get an antenna system for that.

I have just acquired an LNA technology CA144T 2m LNA. I cannot find out
much about it, I was going to use in on my 2m terrestrial system as it
is a more convenient than size the other cavity input LNA that I have.
I looked on the LNA technology site but they same to have shut down
amateur operations apart from a power meter add on.
Any info? Device? NF? Gain?

I have a 14MHz to 144MHz transverter and am looking for anyone who has tried the Elad FDM-DUO transceiver as a tuneable IF.
I was going to use a KX3 with PX3 for this, but have found to my dismay that the level of RF noise from the PX3 makes it useless for weak signal VHF work. There is also a huge birdie radiated from the KX3 around 144.4MHz.
Having taken great care to make sure that electronic appliances around my house do not cause noise on the 144 MHz band, it is so disheartening to find that the transceiver and panadaptor themselves cause such interference.
The Elad transceiver looks interesting since it can be locked to 10MHz and has low power output for transverting. It would however need a computer for displaying the bandscope.
This rig would be mainly used for 144MHz terrestrial work, as I plan to use an HB9DRI dual polarity system for EME if I get XPOL antennas installed again.
So, as I can't try before I buy and don't want to make an expensive mistake again, has anyone used the Elad on 144, if so I would like to hear all about it.
Many thanks,
