This weekend is my once per month EME session. I'm relatively new with about 40 initials, mostly from Europe. It would be great to work some US stations also. So... if you're around the shack maybe you could fire up the rig. : - )

On 13cm today I had 37 QSOs including 1 JA and 5 US cross-band. gotaways were WA6PY, WA9FWD cwnr and ES5PC heard once on 2304. I tried 9cm but had a problem with noise level fluctuating. I will start tomorrow at about 0400 on 13cm and then change to either 9 or 6cm when it gets light at about 0530.
thanks for great QSOs

Folks:
Just got back into town late Friday and managed to install the 13 cm feed as the sun was setting.
Early Saturday morning I worked 14 stations on 2303/2320 including a very exciting QSO with the M and M dxpedition.
I called for a while on my moonset as well, but unfortunately the silence was deafening.
Getaways were F1PYR, DF3RU, W5LUA, F5JWF, KL6M. Tough conditions once again on 2320 and could only work the loud ones on that band due to sat QRM.
I plan to install the 6 cm gear and look for F2CT on my moonrise (~1000z) and once the sun comes up switch to 9 cm for the balance of the pass. (~1300z onward)
Hope to see many of you on.

Thanks for all QSO's today (20).
This was the first time I worked crossband during a contest with high activity and I became somewhat confused. Of course it was my own fault not being able to monitor my own frequency during listening on 2304 as I change converters manually, no relays. But I also noticed that W5LUA "complained" about not being able to work crossband as there were too many stations on.
One solution could be to use 2320.050 or .150 (lsn 2304.050 or .150) when trying to make crossband QSO's or what do you think? If you hear a station calling there, you know he is trying crossband.

Hi all
In 1st pass besides 13cm (wkd 29) i was also qrv on 6cm for 1hr today and worked 4 stations, all cw random...twt output pwr is 6db down and i have az pointing problems. Followed with moon noise but now rx saturates out of the blue... so is a mess...but still enjoy the thrill.
Anyway will be on 6cm tonight from 23:40-01:30 calling CQ and remaining pass on 13 & 6cm. Pls be patient and bear with my recent 6cm qrp signal and murphy striking at no mercy...hi. Won't stop on 5.7 till all melts down or oscillates to the point of no return:-)
If so, i will fly over to Graham for some good red wine!!

Hm this was very fustrating. I am not sure I did it right maybe I can get some help.
I was listening to DL0EF and W6YFK for a long time on 3cm with great signals. so I was thinking those would be easy qsos. I called them many times and did not manage to get any of them in log. I used the following procedure.
I found the signal and looked on F1EHN programme for my own doppler correction. It was - doppler all the time so. I heard at some point DL0EF on 090 and then I looked my doppler was -8khz so I set my TX freq on 102. I saw my echo weak in my passband where I also saw DL0EF. I am working with a 1.8meter offset and 42W. I see 0.8dB moonnoise so that should be ok. I never got any qsos.
Does anyone know what can be wrong. Is my system just too little for contest work.

I be on tomorrow for my tries to get some stations logged.
for time being CW only
Thanks Ray,
I'm getting the station put together. Antennas and new multiband PA are on the way.
Rene and the ATeam are very successful and very helpful, I will be learning from them.
I need to think of a new "team" name...maybe the "D" Team

The time of the month is good for EME on about all bands, the moon will rise about Midnight local time on the first day and be about 45 min later each day....Moon sets will be in Day time....
Get with Rene( PE1L) about min requirements, they have it down pat..
Have a good trip, every body needs HK on all the bands...

Hello EMEers,
Save the date...
I've just booked a stay in Santa Marta, Magdelena, Colombia (HK) August 17 - 24, 2014.
I'm considering bringing a small eme station for 144 and 432 MHz (I would also consider 1296 but I have no transverter)
1. Could some of the more experienced EME'ers let me know if there are any good moon windows during that time? I will not bother bringing a station if it will be completely of no use.
2. Is there suggestions on minimum
station capabilities? Anyone have ideas of the typical AC mains power available?
I look forward to meeting up with any of the local hams who would be interested in EME. I have plenty of months to prepare for a successful expedition and would welcome any tips ...

Paul, kg7hf

Hi guys, if anyone is looking for me on the higher bands, the 1st pass
is a "right off" because of Wx! Wind gusts of 80km/hr and rain.
I will try to be on in the 2nd pass BUT I will post an anouncement
beforehand if I can get on.... Wx prediction is not good..

I spent the afternoon running ground/cold sky measurements on my new
W2IMU feed and the old septum feed:
Feed was connected thru 120-foot LMR400 coax to 1296/28 transverter
and SDR-IQ running continuum mode on 28-MHz.
W2IMU Feed:
Y (50/cs) = 9.4 dB for 50-ohm term directly attached to LNA and Feed
directly attached to LNA
Y (50/cs) = 7.8 dB for LNA connected thru coax relay to either 50-ohm or Feed.
Y (gnd/cs) = 7.7 dB for LNA directly connected to the
feed (VK3UM-calc predicts 7.73 dB)
Y (gnd/cs) = 6.7 dB for LNA connected thru the relay to the feed
cold sky consisted of pointing feed toward zenith
ground consisted of pointing feed horizontal at nearby shed
OK1DFC Standard Septum:
Y (50/cs) = 2.9 dB (VK3UM-Calc predicts 6.36 dB)
Y (gnd/cs) = 1.2dB
OK1DFC Septum with 10-inch square horn:
Y (50/cs) = 3.7 dB (VK3UM-Calc predicts 7.3 dB for septum plus flush choke)
Y (gnd/cs) = 3.5 dB
